The Story Behind the Dragon
Long before The Dragon Who Walks Beside Me became a children’s story, there was a little girl who knew what fear felt like.
During my own childhood, especially through the years of my night terrors, I carried the memory of a dragon named Teragram.
Teragram was more than a creature from imagination.
For me, the dragon became a reminder that even in the darkest nights, I was not alone.
Years later, that memory returned with a new purpose.
The Dragon Who Walks Beside Me was created first with one child in mind, then quickly became a story for every child who has ever felt frightened, small, sad, bullied, or alone.
The dragon in the story carries the same message I once needed to hear:
You are not alone.
Every child deserves a reminder that courage can live beside fear, comfort can arrive in the middle of sadness, and love can remain present even when the night feels very dark.
Sometimes that reminder takes the shape of a dragon.
